WILLIAMSBURG – Fifty authors will be present to sign and discuss their books at the Williamsburg Book Festival.

Now in its tenth year, the festival will be held at the Williamsburg Community Building and Stryker Center on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The family-friendly event is designed to celebrate literary composition while connecting authors with the reading public in a lively, welcoming environment.

“The Community Building will be filled with many of the best local and regional authors and publishers with their books,” said Peter Stipe, President of the Williamsburg Book Festival Board. “There will also be guest speakers across the street in the Stryker Center.”

Three speakers will be featured. A keynote presentation will be delivered by Dr. Russell W. Glenn, a Williamsburg author with an extensive military background and experience within the think tank community.

TJ O’Connor will discuss how he works his craft, and local poet Juanita Graham will speak about the restorative power of writing and reading.

The event will also feature an awards ceremony for winners of the local student writing contest. Additionally, a panel of six Virginia poet laureates, including current poet laureate Matty Quesenberry Smith, will read from their works.

Stipe said the festival provides a unique opportunity for writers and readers to meet and interact.

“There is typically so much energy in the exchanges between authors and readers,” Stipe said. “We have a vibrant community of writers in the area, and there are so many book lovers.”

The Williamsburg Book Festival is free and open to the public. For the schedule and list of authors, visit williamsburgbookfestival.org
