The Beach Boys to return to Williamsburg on June 22

WILLIAMSBURG – The Beach Boys are bringing their “Sounds of Summer” Tour to Williamsburg on June 22, The Virginia Arts Festival announced.
The iconic band is commemorating more than a half-century of making music, riding a wave of popularity that is unparalleled in American music history.
Tickets went on sale today, Feb. 28 and are available at vafest.org, 757-282-2822, or in person at the Virginia Arts Festival Box Office (440 Bank Street in Norfolk).
It was 1961 when co-founder and lead singer Mike Love penned the lyrics to Surfin’, The Beach Boys’ first hit. Since then, dozens of the band’s chart-toppers have become emblematic of summer and American youth – from “Good Vibrations” to “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” to “Kokomo.”
Worldwide, The Beach Boys have sold over 100 million records. “Sounds Of Summer: The Very Best of The Beach Boys,” a 30-track collection of the band’s biggest hits, achieved triple-platinum success with sales of more than three million copies in the U.S. since its release.
The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and went on to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2001 Grammy Awards.
After touring for more than five decades, The Beach Boys have performed more concerts than any major rock band in history. Last month, Love, now 83, was also inducted into the 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame.
In addition to their upcoming tour, which includes a stop in Williamsburg, The Beach Boys continue to be active in the American music scene. The band debuted on Disney+, offering fans a comprehensive look at their journey over the past five decades. They also released their only official book, “The Beach Boys by The Beach Boys,” in 2024.

The upcoming Williamsburg concert is part of Williamsburg Live, a multi-day, outdoor music festival organized by The Virginia Arts Festival.
The event offers a unique and scenic setting for an intimate music festival experience. Shaded by centuries-old trees, the art museums’ lawn allows visitors to surround themselves in history while enjoying music by nationally known acts.
The Beach Boys will take the stage on Sunday, June 22, at the Lawn of the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg at 7:30 pm.
Past artists and headliners include Allison Krauss, Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Emmylou Harris, Lake Street Dive, Rhiannon Giddens, Jason Isbell, Martina McBride, Amos Lee, Chris Thile, Leyla McCalla, The Wood Brothers, Shovels & Rope, Kenny Loggins, Keb’ Mo’ and Laufey.
As previously reported by The Triangle, The Beach Boys also performed during Williamsburg Live last year.
The event will also feature local food truck fare and local and regional craft beers and wines. Over the past 25 years, The Virginia Arts Festival has welcomed visitors from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and 25 foreign countries.
