Williamsburg City Council swears in newly-elected members and appoints mayor, vice mayor

WILLIAMSBURG – Incumbents W. Pat Dent and Barabra L. Ramsey, along with newcomer Ayanna T. Williams, were sworn into the Williamsburg City Council on Jan. 9 at the Courthouse of 1770 on Duke of Gloucester Street. All three were elected to their seats on Nov. 5, 2024.

  • Dent is serving his second term on City Council, while Ramsey is serving her third. Williams, a student at William & Mary, is serving her first term. The terms will run for four years, concluding on Dec. 31, 2028. 

Mayor, vice mayor appointments: During the Jan. 9 organizational meeting, Pons was re-elected to serve as mayor for the 2025-2026 term, while Dent was re-elected to serve as vice mayor.

Williamsburg City Council meetings are open to the public and held the second Thursday of every month at 2 p.m. Meetings are also televised live and on-demand on WMSBG Cable Channel 48, the City’s Facebook page, and the City’s YouTube channel. For more information, visit williamsburgva.gov.
