JAMES CITY COUNTY – Officials in James City County are warning about a widely circulating text message that prompts local residents to participate in a brief survey.

The message asks readers to share their opinions in a “3 min James City County survey,” according to a county Facebook post.

The text is not being distributed by James City County, and the link does not connect to an official county survey.

Residents who receive suspicious communication are encouraged to contact the county if they need guidance as to whether or not the messages are authentic.
