Three more restaurants in the Williamsburg area have closed their doors, just weeks after Red Lobster on Richmond Road shut down with no notice.

Mooyah, a fast-casual burger joint in Settlers Market, is no longer open for business. The restaurant, which was a locally owned and operated franchise, is now listed as “permanently closed” on Google.

  • According to Mooyah’s website, the only remaining locations in Virginia are in Newport News and Hampton.
  • Mooyah’s Williamsburg restaurant first opened in 2017 and was run by Amit Patel. Patel could not be reached for comment.

Baker’s Crust Artisan Kitchen in Settlers Market also closed at the end of last week.

A social media user said her daughter, who worked as a server at the restaurant, was informed Friday that she was out of a job because the business was ceasing operations immediately.

  • The locally-operated Williamsburg location has been removed from the official Baker’s Crust website, and the restaurant’s phone number appears to no longer be in service.
  • A Virginia-based company, Baker’s Crust was founded in 1993 with a focus on breakfast, salads and sandwiches, wood-fired pizzas and creative menu offerings.
  • News of the Williamsburg closure comes several weeks after the Baker’s Crust location on W. Cary St. in Richmond shut down after 26 years of operating. Locations remain open in Ashburn, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Short Pump and Virginia Beach.
BurgerFi on Mooretown Rd. in Williamsburg. (The Triangle)

BurgerFi, located at 6610 Mooretown Road in Williamsburg, has also closed down, but it appears the management is hopeful that it may reopen at some point in the future.

  • “It is with a heavy heart that we announce our temporary closure. This was not an easy decision,” a sign on the door states. “We thank you for your love and support over the years and look forward to welcoming you back when we reopen.”
  • The fast-casual restaurant, which opened in November 2021, focused on natural burgers, craft beer and frozen custard. BurgerFi locations are still operating in Charlottesville, Woodbridge, Leesburg and Arlington.
  • A BurgerFi representative told The Triangle that the Williamsburg store is a franchise location and that the decision to close the restaurant was “solely made” by the independent owner.

  1. This is not good with limited choices of restaurants and with the summer tourists arriving in Williamsburg.
