What inspired you to run for House District 69?

My inspiration to run for this office is simple- I want to bring County values to Richmond. Over the past couple of years, I have seen decent policy changes coming from Richmond with the leadership changes at the state level in 2021. However, I still believe that there is more work to be done to benefit the constituents in my district. I hope that I can bring common-sense conservative principles that can work for Virginians.

How are you personally invested in the district? (For example, do you own property, own a business, or send your kids to school in the district?)

I was born and raised right here on the Peninsula. Additionally, I have served as President of the Grafton Kiwanis Club, a board member of The Peninsula Fine Arts Center and the YMCA. I have served on the York County Board of Supervisors for eight years, and my children attend public school here in York County. I am a proud resident of Seaford with my wife, Ashley.

What is the biggest problem currently facing your district, and what do you intend to do about it?

I think that the 69th district has logistical situations that our people experience on a daily basis. I am running to help hold VDOT accountable for road maintenance and repair, and get my constituents the results they deserve when they call on the government for help. I see my role as the next Delegate to be of service to my friends and neighbors when they need help.

In your opinion, what should the role of parents be in public school education?

As a parent of young children, I cannot understate the extremely important role that parents play in their children’s education. Parents need to not just have a seat at the table, but the head seat at the table when it comes to education. I believe that parents should have options when it comes to suiting the needs of their children. We will not have a bright future if we handcuff our parents, and restrict their ability to make decisions for their children when it comes to education.

Virginia currently allows abortions during the first two trimesters of pregnancy, with exceptions in the third trimester if the mother’s health is deemed to be at risk. In recent months, however, Governor Glenn Youngkin has called on legislators to support a 15-week limit on abortions, with exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother. Where do you stand on this issue?

I believe that the Governor has created a common-sense proposal for this particular issue which the majority of Virginia agrees with. As a father of two children, I understand that these decisions can be tough for the families that are most impacted. My hope is to promote legislation in Richmond that gives young families and mothers the capabilities and resources necessary to care and provide for their family.

The 69th District is politically divided. If re-elected, how will you ensure that your constituents who disagree with you feel heard?

I don’t feel that the 69th District is politically divided. In fact, I believe that we agree on major concerns that face our community. What I hear the most from constituents is the impact of rising costs, high taxes, and divided politics. I will NOT go to Richmond to be a partisan. Rather, I hope to work with all of my colleagues to work for quality legislation that improves our quality of life, and continues to make our area the best place in Virginia to live, work, and raise a family.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I would hope that voters see someone who has brought common-sense policies to the York County Board of Supervisors over the past eight years. I encourage voters to look at my background- a husband, a father, and a small business owner. We have helped create a better York County through responsive leadership and conservative policies. I don’t want Richmond to look like Washington, and I am looking forward to serving as your next Delegate and getting results for you. As I always like to say, “the choice is clear in the 69th district!”
