Grammy Award-winning gospel legends to headline Winter Blues Jazz Festival

WILLIAMSBURG – A six-time Grammy Award-winning music group is set to headline the Winter Blues Jazz Fest in downtown Williamsburg this weekend.

The Blind Boys of Alabama, a world-renowned gospel ensemble with roots tracing back to 1939, will perform at the William & Mary Alumni House on Sunday at 7 p.m.

Celebrated as a living music legend, the group has released more than twenty albums and was recognized with Lifetime Achievement Awards from The National Endowment for The Arts and The Recording Academy. They have collaborated on recordings with artists such as Eric Clapton, Willie Nelson, Stevie Wonder and Prince. 

The Winter Blues Jazz Fest kicks off on Jan. 16 and concludes on Jan. 19. Presented by CultureFix, the four-day festival features a diverse lineup of performances, promising an eventful weekend for music lovers.

Other musicians set to take the stage include the Jae Sinnett Zero to 60 Quartet, the Tom Euler Band, Wayne Brooks, Forte Jazz Band and Latin Jazz Conspiracy.

In addition to the concerts, two free programs will be offered as part of the festival, including a jazz workshop on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and a Martin Luther King Tribute at the historic First Baptist Church on Monday at 10 a.m.
