Overland Aircraft Catches Fire At Lagos Airport
An aircraft allegedly belonging to Overland Airways, on Friday, caught fire at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, MM1, Lagos.
An online new medium, gavel.ng reports that the incident reportedly occurred at about 10.30am. An eyewitness said the plane was being serviced when it went up in flames.
According to a report, half of the plane was burnt, while some chartered aircraft being repaired close to the scene of the fire were also torched. Fire-fighters were said to have battled before putting out the fire.
Tunji Oketunbi, spokesperson for Accident Investigations Bureau, AIB, who confirmed the incident, was quoted as saying, “Investigators have already gone to the scene. When they come back, we will be in a better position to know what happens.”
