Niger Delta Youths give IPOB critical warning
A coalition of Niger Delta Youths has vowed not to join in the Indigenous People of Biafra in its bid to divide Nigeria.
The youths who gathered under the umbrella of Niger Delta Youth Congress (NDYC), said the south-south region is not part of Biafra land.
NDYC through its national leader Israel Uwejeyan, warned the IPOB to desist from trying to make the Niger Delta part of its secession plot.
Israel Uwejeyan issued the warning after the group’s emergency meeting held in Warri, Delta state over the weekend.
News Source reports that the NDYC also vowed to seek peace in the fields where IPOB is calling for war.
The youths said they will not allow the Niger Delta be destroyed by joining in the IPOB’s war.
A statement issued by the NDYC stressed that the Niger Delta Youths from the South-south will resist all attempts by members of the IPOB and MASSOB groups to extend the war drums to our region.
“We strongly urge all other Governors and lawmakers in the South-south region to publicly disown the agitation for Biafra as their nonchalant attitude towards the inclusion of the South-south States in the map and struggle for Biafra will no longer be overlooked,” the statement partially read.
In similar vein, youth leaders in the Niger Delta region have concluded plans to hold a conference over the agitation for Biafra and restructuring of the country.
The youth leaders are expected to come with a position that will serve as the blue print of the region’s demand in the scheme of things in the country.
The gathering which is expected to hold in Port Harcourt was to have been informed by the current agitations rocking the country, News Source reports.
Mr Moses Siasia, chairman of the Nigerian Young Professionals Forum and former governorship candidate in Bayelsa state said the meeting will also address internal issues in the region.
