Horn Stuns Pacquiao To Claim WBO Title
Jeff Horn produced one of the biggest upsets in Australian boxing history, after defeating Manny Pacquiao to claim the WBO welterweight world title in Brisbane.
Horn, who is a school teacher, earned a unanimous points victory despite Pacquiao landing more punches over 12 rounds at the Suncorp Stadium.
The result sheets read 117-111, 115-113 and 115-113. Horn has now improved his record to 18-0-1.
It remains to be seen how defeat will affect Pacquiao. Before the fight, his trainer Freddie Roach, admitted he would ask the Filipino to retire if he lost.
Roach predicted the fight would be short and sweet, but Horn came out flying in the early rounds and Pacquiao needed treatment during the sixth and seventh rounds for a cut.
