Arsenal legend Tony Adams insists Arsene Wenger ‘didn’t teach him anything’.
Tony Adams has again hit out at Arsene Wenger and claimed he didn’t learn anything from the Arsenal boss.
Gunners legend Adams has often been critical of Wenger despite enjoying great success under him in north London.
Earlier this summer, Adams slated Wenger’s coaching and while he has labelled him “very intelligent and very educated”, he refused to change his stance on tactical ability.
Adams was part of a formidable backline – particularly during the club’s first title success in 1998 – but says Wenger wasn’t responsible.
“For preparation and recovery he was better than anyone. As a psychologist – regarding his interaction with his group of players – he was fantastic, second to none,” he told the Islington Gazette.
“But did he teach me anything? No. Did he teach me how to defend? No. He didn’t teach Nigel [Winterburn], Dicko [Lee Dixon], he didn’t teach Bouldy [Steve Bould] or Dave Seaman.”
Wenger ended speculation over his future by signing a contract extension in the summer but this season has got off to a poor start.
And Adams believes the Frenchman should have walked away after the FA Cup final success over Chelsea and moved onto the board like Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
