Again, Obasanjo Hits Buhari, Urges Nigerians To Vote ‘Right’ Leaders
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has lambasted the President Muhammadu Buhari administration for the recent ranking of Nigeria as the poorest country in the world.
A report by Brookings Institution in June had stated Nigeria as the nation with the highest number of extremely poor people in the world.
And the former Nigerian leader has hinged the country’s economic setback on the current administration’s handling of the economy.
He made this known while addressing the Lagos State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) executive members in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
“India is with a population of 1.3b and Nigeria is about 800m, yet, we still have the poorest citizens in the world. Nigeria does not deserve this, and this is the truth,” read a statement by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, on Wednesday.
Obasanjo also called on Nigerians to be united in getting the right leadership for the country.
“PDP cannot do it alone, ADC cannot do it alone. It must be collective efforts to get the right leadership for the country. Recently, the country was rated as the poorest country in the world,” he added.
